For the first time, the Youth Services department, led by school engagement librarian Eti Berland, coordinated and hosted Winter Reading Club school visits before and at the beginning of the launch of our Winter Reading Club program, for more than 2,000 students and teachers.
We shared engaging, informative, and joyful presentations about the importance of reading during the winter, ways to participate in the club, and short high-interest booktalks to help young readers find stories just right for them. We, of course, brought along our library mascots, Minty & Marshmallow – and premiered our original Winter Reading Club video, which you can watch here. We're so grateful to the librarians, teachers, and administrators who helped arrange these visits and made our library staff feel so welcome at their schools! And extra thank you to all the youth department staff who joined these visits.
Want to check out the books our librarians shared during our presentations? Here's the full list below. And our librarians can always help you find a just-right book for you to read during Winter Reading Club - and beyond!
