One book I read this winter was How To by Randall Munroe, author of What If and Thing Explainer. How To is a book that takes a mundane thing, solves it in an absurd way, and then uses science to figure out how that would work. For example, in a chapter about sending a file, rather than simply emailing a file, the book suggests using butterflies to carry MicroSD cards and then figures out the logistics of it. The book contains many amusing illustrations that break up the text and prevent it from getting boring. Overall, How To is a book that excellently blends science and humor and I would recommend it.
