Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase, by Carolyn Keene
Nancy Drew and the Secret Staircase is a fun, suspenseful mystery. It is very intriguing because Nancy Drew is solving two mysteries at once. She is figuring out who the "ghost" at Twin Elms is and where her father was taken. If you like mysteries, then this is the book for you.

City of Bones, by Cassandra Clare
I really enjoyed reading the Mortal Instruments book, City of Bones. I thought the story was great, and that you can really relate to the characters. I also enjoyed how there were many different types of creatures, settings, and conflicts whether they were internal, external or character vs character. One other thing that made me want to read the series, is that there is a movie and TV show adaptation. The book was great and I definitely recommend it.
