Start Date

Youth Services now offers sensory friendly tools for children to borrow during their visit to the library. These items help kids cope with stress and sensory struggles so they can enjoy all the library has to offer.

Noise canceling headphones help block unwanted sounds like the hum of florescent lights or the volume of collective voices. They can help a child focus on storytime or browse books.

Weighted lap animals provide extra sensory input, which can help with concentration and ease stress and anxiety. Ask for one to use during storytime or other programs.

Sensory toys are available in the Junior High Room for any patron who benefits from a little fidgeting. Choose from stress toys, finger mazes, and bubble poppers.

Dimmer switches and window shades allow us to adjust the brightness in the Youth Program Room and the main Youth Services area. Ask a librarian to lower the lights if your child has sensitivities.

Let us know how we can help make your visit a welcoming experience!
