Now is Not the Time to Panic is an exuberant, bighearted novel about two teenage misfits who spectacularly collide one fateful summer, and the art they make that changes their lives forever.
A bold coming-of-age story, written with Kevin Wilson’s trademark wit and blazing prose, Now Is Not the Time to Panic is a nuanced exploration of young love, identity, and the power of art. It’s also about the secrets that haunt us—and, ultimately, what the truth will set free. (from the publisher)
Now is Not the Time to Panic is a national bestseller and was named Best Book of the Year by: Time, Kirkus Reviews, USA Today, Entertainment Weekly, Garden & Gun, Vox, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Kevin Wilson is the author of two collections, Tunneling to the Center of the Earth, which received an Alex Award from the American Library Association and the Shirley Jackson Award, and Baby, You’re Gonna Be Mine. In addition to the upcoming We Are Fugitives and 2019’s Nothing to See Here (selected by Jenna Bush Hager for the Read with Jenna book club, and a Best Book of the Year according to The New York Times, Washington Post, People, TIME, Entertainment Weekly, and more) Kevin is also the author of the novels The Family Fang—a NYT bestseller adapted into a film starring Nicole Kidman and Jason Bateman—and the critically acclaimed Perfect Little World. His fiction has appeared in Ploughshares, Southern Review, One Story, A Public Space, and elsewhere, and has appeared in two volumes of the Best American Short Stories anthology as well as The PEN/O. Henry Prize Stories 2012. He has received fellowships from the MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, Rivendell, and the KHN Center for the Arts. Kevin lives in Sewanee, Tennessee, with his wife, the poet Leigh Anne Couch, and his sons, Griff and Patch, where he is an Associate Professor in the English Department at the University of the South.
