Wilmette Public Library has an exciting opportunity for a collaborative, innovative, compassionate, and goals-driven individual to lead and manage our public service departments (Adult Services, Youth Services, Digital & Maker Services, and Circulation departments). Core Essential Functions:

  • Plan and develop goals that correlate with the library’s strategic goals and mission for each department supervised.
  • Work on library-wide projects, initiatives, and issues as a key member of the Administration Team in collaboration with the director and human resources manager.
  • Assist with the annual budget preparation process as well as assist with creation, evaluation, and revision of mission-critical documents such as: tax levy, budget & appropriation ordinance, strategic plan, disaster plan, and library policies.
  • Create reports, surveys, manuals, and other informational documents.
  • Attend regular and special meetings of the Board of Library Trustees.
  • Work collaboratively and meet regularly with managers and others to coordinate the provision of public services.
  • Recommend, develop, and implement solutions to improve and enhance district-wide services and operations.
  • Oversee, coordinate, and manage budget for both print and digital collections for library.
  • Oversee and coordinate learning experiences and curriculum for patrons and staff.
  • Ensure that staff provide accurate, friendly, courteous service and provide a positive, welcoming library experience for all.
  • Participate in overall planning processes as a member of the library’s Leadership Team.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in library science from an ALA-accredited university.
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience in a public library, including a minimum of 3 years of managerial experience required, preferably in a public library.
  • Schedule includes daytime hours, with occasional weekends and evenings. Must be available to attend monthly Board meetings.
  • Starting salary dependent on qualifications. Salary grade range:
    • Minimum: $90,240 – Maximum: $135,361


Classification:

This is a full-time, exempt position scheduled for 37.5 hours per week. This position is eligible for both paid time-off, IMRF participation, as well as a generous healthcare package including medical, dental, and vision.
