Picking Up Your Library Holds

While the library building is open with limited service, you have two easy ways to pick up your holds. You can now come inside the building to pick up your holds, and the library continues to offer contactless Parking Lot Pickup. If you decide to visit the building, please review our safety procedures and current operating model. We have a limited service model to prioritize the health and safety of our community and staff.

When you visit the library, you will notice a new procedure for picking up your holds. Holds have been moved to the Recent Arrivals section, along the wall under the digital sign. We have a new holds slip, and you will need your library card to make sure that you have the correct items. For your privacy, holds are shelved with the spines facing the wall, and only feature the first four letters of your last name and your first and middle initial. Confirm you have your items by matching the last four digits of your library card to the four digits on the holds slip, as in this illustration.

We encourage you to use the self-checkout machines located in the Recent Arrivals area. You will need your library card, or your library card loaded in the Wilmette Public Library app. Staff will be on hand to help you use the new machines.

 

Parking Lot Pickup

Appointments are required for Parking Lot Pickup. We cannot accommodate same-day appointments. Please do not make an appointment for Parking Lot Pickup until you have been notified your holds are available. We will bundle your items as they are available, you do not need to make multiple appointments.

We encourage you to use Parking Lot Pickup and the self-check machines. These procedures keep the library safe and efficient as we continue to adapt our service model in response to COVID-19.
