    Where: Auditorium

    High school students are invited to a pizza break during exams. Come to the Auditorium at 7:00 sharp for pizza and refreshments. We’ll serve until it’s gone. The Auditorium will be available in the afternoon and evening for group study.

  • "Cook County ICU" Author Visit and Signing

    The Library is excited to welcome Cory Franklin, MD to discuss his book, "Cook County ICU." Dr. Franklin will discuss the book and answer questions about his career. Books will be available for purchase and signing after the discussion.

    Come and discuss one of the nation's most fascinating public hospitals through the eyes of its Director of Intensive Care, Dr. Cory Franklin. Dr. Franklin recalls a litany of unusual medical cases and unforgettable patients from his 30-year career.
  • "Open Sesame: the Story of Seeds" Greener Choices Film Screening
    When: Monday, June 12, 2017 - 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

    This provocative and emotionally gripping documentary puts the spotlight on the threat to seeds, which provide everything from the clothing we wear to the food we eat. The film examines the harmful effects of big business and genetic modification to seeds by interviewing experts in the field, including farmers, environmental and political activists.

  • Maker Sunday: Tie Dye Extravaganza
    When: Sunday, June 18, 2017 - 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

  • Historic Lakefront Walking Tour
    When: Thursday, June 22, 2017 - 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
    Where: Off-site

    Join Kathy Hussey-Arntson, Director of the Wilmette Historical Museum, and Terry Porter, President of the Wilmette Historical Society, for a guided tour of key historic sites along Wilmette's lakefront. The tour will include stops at historic houses on Michigan Avenue, Gillson and Langdon Parks, as well as landmarks such as the Coast Guard station and Wilmette Harbor. Registration is required and meet-up location will be given at that time.
  • Mini Masterpieces: A Drawing Workshop
    When: Tuesday, June 27, 2017 - 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
    Where: Auditorium

    Anyone can learn to draw, or improve their drawing skills. In this class, art teacher Christine Thornton will teach you some "tricks" artists use when they draw. You'll choose from dozens of famous art reproductions to copy and create your own small scale "Mini Masterpiece" in colored pencil. Adults and teens welcome; registration required.
