tweensThe Wilmette Public Library offers programs for kids in grades 5–8. The Kids’ Library Council meets regularly to do art, technology, and book-related activities and also to plan events and spaces for the Library. We also offer technology programs and occasional special interest activities.

Upcoming Tween Events

  • Kids' Library Council: Suburban Camping Party
    When: Monday, August 28, 2017 - 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
    Where: Off-site

    Go camping without leaving Wilmette! We'll say goodbye to summer with crafts and activities best done in the great outdoors and eat pizza under the stars. No tent required. Note: this program will take place at the Gazebo at Mallinckrodt Park, 1960 Elmwood Ave. Grades 5-9. Sign-up starts August 14 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, August 21 for nonresidents.
  • Kids' Library Council: Meet a Chicken
    When: Monday, September 18, 2017 - 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Chicken consultant Jennifer Murtoff will introduce you to a chicken and a quail. She'll answer all your questions about chickens and how to care for them. Also, help plan library spaces and programs for kids in grades 5-8. Snacks will be served. Grades 5-8. Sign-up starts September 5 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, September 12 for nonresidents.
  • Kids' Library Council: Halloween Stickers
    When: Monday, October 16, 2017 - 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
    Where: Youth Program Room

    Help us decorate the Library for Halloween! You’ll make creepy stickers using our vinyl cutter and special software. Also, help plan library spaces and programs for kids in grades 5-8. Snacks will be served. Grades 5-8. Sign-up starts October 2 for Wilmette & Kenilworth residents, October 9 for nonresidents.
