    In this Greener Choices Program with Go Green Wilmette, you'll learn what's actually in your personal care products and cleaning agents without facing the daunting task of researching every ingredient. In this presentation, you’ll walk away knowing what's safe for your body, family, and home. You'll also learn about safe Halloween makeup and receive a free sample of a safe, homemade cleaner as well as enter a personal care product raffle.

    Presenter Amy Hanna Downey, a Wilmette native with a rich background in environment, has worked as a zookeeper at Lincoln Park Zoo, and a wildlife conservationist and educator in Uganda.

  • The Shakespeare Project - As You Like It

    Where: Auditorium

    Follow it heroine Rosalind and her cousin Celia as they escape persecution at the hands of her uncle, Duke Frederick. Together, the cousins find safety and, eventually, love, in the Forest of Arden. Well known for its many famous speeches, including "All the World's a Stage", this play is a favorite among actors and audiences alike.

    Nostalgia Entertainment reenacts a 1940’s radio hour that is perfect for all ages! While answering musical requests from soldiers and loved ones during wartime, Patti, Maxine and Andrew entertain the “studio audience” with Andrews Sisters-style tunes and choreography, Abbott and Costello comedy sketches, and a touching tribute to Veterans of the United States Armed Forces.

    Chicago’s distinctive architecture illustrates the works of writers from novelist Theodore Dreiser to poet Carl Sandburg to graphic novelist Chris Ware. This visual presentation explores the intersections of Chicago’s literature and architecture to discover how each art enriches the other. Leanne Star is a former professor of literature and a docent volunteer at the Chicago Architecture Foundation.

    Although the Disney Studio was the toast of Hollywood animation in the 1930s, its fortunes fell quickly on the eve of WWII. Come hear about Disney's vital--but now forgotten--contribution to the war effort as a prolific producer of hundreds of educational, industrial, and propaganda films during the Second World War--an effort which not only helped save the country but also the studio that would go on to be an American cultural institution.
