Adult reference librarians offer a wide variety of computer classes, as well as classes that focus upon Internet and database research. Classes are free, but registration is usually required. Browse our schedule of current offerings in Off the Shelf or on our Computer and Internet Classes page.
The library's book discussion group meets on the fourth Monday of the month in the "living room" area of the Fiction Room from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Copies of the selected books will be available at the library and through our interlibrary loan system. The Great Books discussion group, led by Wilmette resident Arthur Arfa meets on the first Monday of the month at 7:15 p.m. in the Small Meeting Room.
Each of the selected readings are contained in a single paperback, The Great Books Reading and Discussion Program, First Series, volume 1. A copy (R 808.8 GR) is available in the Reference Room on the first floor, and a circulating copy (808.8 GR) is shelved on the lower level. If the circulating copy is checked out, you may request a reserve.

The library offers two Senior Book Groups where librarians talk about and read from a variety of books both new and old. These programs are held at the Meskill Senior Center, located at the Community Recreation Center, and at Mather Place, 2801 Old Glenview Road. Both groups meet for one hour, and newcomers are always welcome.
The Meskill Senior Center group meets at 10:30 a.m. on the first Friday of every month from September through June.
The Mather Place group meets at 10:30 a.m. on the second Friday of
each month from September through June.
Share your views on the issues of the day with moderator Jerry Ripp. Newcomers are always welcome to become part of this lively group that covers all points on the political spectrum. The group meets two Monday mornings each month from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. in the Auditorium. Upcoming dates are:

Families who have a loved-one with Alzheimer's disease are invited to come to
a support group hosted by the library and the Alzheimer's Association on the
last Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Small Meeting Room.
A support group for those with adult type I, or insulin-dependent, diabetes holds its monthly meetings at the Library. The group meets on the second Wednesday of each month in the Auditorium.
